What did I do?

Built, deployed, and maintained internal NPM packages and GitHub templates & workflows which enabled the web development team to quickly, efficiently, and consistently build headless WordPress websites.

What was included?

Boilerplate NextJS front-end site

WordPress "blueprint" site

WordPress parent & child theme

Custom GraphQL endpoints in WordPress

Private NPM packages containing many React/NextJS components for WordPress blocks, Marketo Forms, and more

Full documentation site complete with launch and QA checklists

Led a RFC (request for comments) to gather and incorporate team feedback on the tech stack, and processes.

How did it go?

The initiative was a great success. The headless foundation was utilized to build and launch three headless websites between November, 2024 and January, 2025. Page speed scores were 90+ for both desktop and mobile. Load times were consistently under 1.2 seconds. Content managers were very happy with the speed, and ability to use a familiar CMS (WordPress).
